Balanced effort and a couple of big middle innings led the Cardinals of Tolland Little League’s Majors Division to a win over the Twins at Cross Farms on Saturday. The annual Vernon Fishing Derby, sponsored by the Vernon Parks & Recreation Department, was well attended once again this year with over 50 boys and girls who tried their luck at catching the big one. Many prizes were handed out by TJ's Fly Shop in Union, CT, and this year's overall grand-prize winner was Vernon resident Sam Hollworth, a 9-year-old angler. Congratulations to Sam on his prize trout which weighed ...

The Mets of Tolland Little League’s Majors Division showed a pretty easy formula for picking up a big win: score early, score often, and your pitching feels less pressure. The Mets scored in four of their five innings and held the Twins to just four hits en route to a 9-3 victory Saturday afternoon at Cross Farms.
Cole Suchecki set the table with a pair of hits and three runs scored, while Jack Lester, Noah ...

After all, this beloved field in town has been home to hundreds of little league games since it was dedicated in 1992. Now, twenty years later, it has seen little leaguers come and go, but one person has stuck around for the entire time. Don Longtin, the long-time president of Glastonbury Little ...

That was the goal that Michelle Hespeler had for her students at Buttonball Elementary more than five years ago when she had an idea to put together a formal “jump rope” team at the school.

The team started with ...

A second was from another friend whose 12-year-old son just returned from a baseball tournament in Omaha – as in Nebraska. The third friend’s 15-year-old son will travel to Florida for a week-long tournament ...
