Mets Roll to Win Over Twins
The Mets of Tolland Little League’s Majors Division showed a pretty easy formula for picking up a big win: score early, score often, and your pitching feels less pressure. The Mets scored in four of their five innings and held the Twins to just four hits en route to a 9-3 victory Saturday afternoon at Cross Farms.
Cole Suchecki set the table with a pair of hits and three runs scored, while Jack Lester, Noah Johnson, Justin Szabo, and Billy Houle all manned the mound to stifle any Twins threats. Lester also scored twice and drove in a run, and both Johnson and Houle each had a hit and a run scored as well.
For the Twins, Jack Vogler and Noah Hauser pitched well despite the score, and Aiden Furrier contributed with an RBI single to score Brian Clokey, who singled, in the second. Ollie Kuhn picked up an RBI by drawing a walk with the bases loaded in the fifth. Josh Popovitch singled and scored the Twins’ other run on a passed ball in the sixth. Clokey also had the defensive play of the game to end the bottom of the first when he snared a Jayden Regisford line drive, robbing him of a hit and possibly a run batted in.
For the Mets, Steven Busch had a single and a run scored, while Sam Mackey had a walk, a stolen base, and scored a run. Mets pitching picked up nine strikeouts as well.
