The Passing of Charles Huggins Leaves A Void In Local Sports Scene

Charles Huggins was an institution around the local tennis courts both as a teacher and mentor. He passed away on April 3 at the age of 71.
The local sports scene lost a important and beloved figure when Charles Huggins (71) passed away at his home in East Windsor on April 3. Huggins was a long-time tennis instructor at the Enfield Tennis Club and most recently served as a coach and mentor for hundreds of young players while serving as a youth tennis instructor for the Ellington Recreation Department.
Huggins effervescent personality and easy teaching style endeared him to players young and old alike and number of his students have gone on to play at the high school and college level.
